this most poignant and important piece should be read by everyone...to open eyes to what precisely is cis-privilege, sexism, and racism does to a person...even posthumously.

very good, indepth insights into the scary world of cis-privilege and one example of how the dominant culture manages to erase a person's humanity if that person doesn't fit into the privilege of that culture. i was in tears reading the various articles written about this woman. as the mother of a transgender daughter, it struck outrage in me that swiftly turned to fear ....realising that this could happen to my own beautiful child...not only the brutal way in which she was murdered, but the horrendous way her entire existence was dismissed as little more than a joke or an odd asided...all i could feel was "ci ci is my own daughter" ... altho ziona will have the advantage of not being a person of colour, doubtless that the other oppressions mention in your post will be those to which she will be exposed.
thanks for the insightful post...which i will reblog and share widely...

As general violence goes, you’re correct.

As a woman who dresses regularly in a masculine capacity, I periodically experience resistance and animosity, usually reducible to being called a “fucking dyke” and having people threaten to punch me in the face. In my own narrative, I lack the knowledge of being “found out” as a trans man.

I cannot speak to an experience like, say, Brandon Teena’s, although the reactions to his being forcibly outed and penalized with his life echoes the kind of violence which is, again, banal to the way most trans women are being murdered: it's a cisnormatively-rooted act of spontaneous or premeditated transmisogynistic violence. It underscores the root misogyny of possessing the history of a morphologically female body or feminine articulations of gender.

Such violence you mention, however, ends up being lot less ambiguous and lot less like a time bomb waiting to go off in what disproportionately ends up being semi-intimate and intimate conditions (such as dates with cis men, which might be personal or in the business of sex work).
