Damn you, putting me in fits of guffaw at the Heathers reference — still one of my all-time favourites (it, plus Donnie Darko, plus Låt den rätte komma in, are sort of an encapsulation of me in cinematic terms).

You're nothing if not persistent about Saturday afternoon. I'll see what goes down, and hopefully try to drop by. Really. Capture Toronto in its fullest, eh? So, you joining us for dosai Saturday around 7:17p? :)

I'm guessing you're back in town now, eh? Isn't Montréal such a grand place this time of year? It's such a joy that I can't wait to slit my wrists to add to the fall colours. Or something. :P

"As for Montréal, this city is so badly damaged at its social core that shy of its overhaul, this city will continue to languish in a kind of purgatory where neither decline nor growth will be the order of its agenda. Culture does not originate here; culture comes here. To retire and grow greyer. Civic reputations abroad tend to be 20–30 years out of date for most anywhere — idealistic and romantic perceptions of cities tend to reflect a past time which any current resident would tell you is no longer the case today. For Montréal, people still believe this is Canada's "cultural city", while Toronto is all stiff upper lip, English, white, etc. It's as absurd as still calling Austin a live music capital of the world, or Seattle is home to flannel, grunge, and shotguns used for suicides."
Yup, that about sums it up.
I'm still not sure about post-Zombie Walk plans in T.O., but maybe you can come over for Shabbat supper here in Mtl in the next couple weeks anyway? Hey, you should totally at least come down and take photos at the Zombie Walk. It'll be very! (Oh yes, I so just went back to 1988 and Heathers for that). I'm sure the zombie gore and blood will look doubly awesome in kodachrome *and*, being a Toronto original, you should have some shots of the Zombie Walk for your larger Toronto Kodachrome project, non?
