_run_2_

>to the first part, i wish i could say something keen like the New >Order "Run(2)" 12" (of which there are reportedly 75 in >existence), but i don't have that (though i know two people who >do).

uhh, actually, there are 20,000+ copies of that out there,
and its quite easy to find for dirt cheap (a $5 copy did
not sell on ebay just recently)..

the uk 7" is a lot rarer (i have that also)..
here's the info from the 'new order' discography:

Run 2
---------------------
Fac 273
August 1989

    7": UK 1989 (Factory FAC 273-7) [promo] *
3:35 Run 2
3:43 MTO

12": UK 1989 (The Townhouse FAC 273) [2 sided acetate]
12": UK 1989 (Factory FAC 273) **
3:35 Run 2
5:22 Run 2 (extended version)
3:43 MTO
5:24 MTO (minus mix)

*  Only 500 pressed as Radio/DJ promo.
** Only 20,000 pressed.

[T.Ivarsson] "Run 2 was never pressed a second time because John Denver sued New
Order. John Denver claimed that Run resembled his Leaving on a Jet Plane and
they settled the case outside the court. It is said that on some releases of ? -
(The Best Of) New Order, John Denver is listed as a co-writer to the song."

-------
i'm currently trying to re-master all
their vinyl tracks into a 4-disc singles set,
and a 25+ disc box-set...

later
