I was so scared. I had no idea what lie ahead of me. My grade principal, Ms. Mynard, helped ensure my safety by not telling my rents where I was staying, but only to note that I was safe, in school, and under the care of adults.

Ms Mynard was killed around 1998 by her husband. Her body was never found, lost forever in the gulf of Mexico. This is but one of a myriad of incidents that defines where I lived that as a genuine Hellmouth -- once and always.

I never was able to thank her.
