Wow. I've been quoted. I feel like Foucault or Heidegger.

I want the KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer in red. Or orange. Or dark green to match my blender. Heidegger probably wouldn't have said that.

We didn't bring any electrical appliances (ie. the Kenwood) over with us for obvious reasons.

Hey, I pulled teh facts from a Canadian web source. And then, when I spoke to <lj user="cheekybrit"></lj> about your comment, she observed that "those people" over there don't know what they're talking about, because KitchenAid is teh best.

And I responded, "But wait a sec. You're a limey! You can't say that!"

She was all, "Oh yes I can. KitchenAid rules, especially those colourful ones." I think her mum now uses a KitchenAid (in dark blue) that replaced her old Kenwood.

And to me, teh Kenwood brand will always mean teh venerable Japanese brand of audio equipment. As I write, I see before me on my desk a 1976 Kenwood KA-4006 Solid State Stereo Integrated Amplifier which I've had for 12 years. I was inspired by teh one my uncle bought new back in 1977.

No, as far as food processing goes, maybe Kenwood is teh bomb, but around here, I'm inclined to get a Vitamix, which chops, dices, atomizes, heats up soup ingredients to piping steamy with rotational friction alone, and has some impressive warranties. <lj user="svairini"></lj> could extol its virtues better than me, since she's owned one for a few years and swears by it.

So there. Canadian-sourced, British-endorsed and Japanese-associated. T'ain't nothing American or revisionist about that! ;D

Pah! They frisk you?!? U.S. border guards have harassed me by holding me in their waiting area for an hour while they tore apart my car in Detroit. I've been frisked by airport security when boarding a plane, but thus far, never has that happened to me by the border guards.

That blows. Seriously.

Uh, hate to burst your bubble of fervour, but KitchenAid preceded the Kenwood Chef by about three decades:

http://www.kitchenaid.ca/en/AboutUs/Our_Heritage.html
"After World War I, the company turned to peacetime production; and, in 1919, the Troy Metal Products Company, a subsidiary of Hobart Manufacturing, began production of the "H-5", the first in a long series of non-commercial stand mixers that uses "planetary action." The mixer rotates the beater in one direction while moving the mix around the bowl in the opposite direction."

http://www.kenwood-australia.com/company/history.asp
"Kenwood was first established in 1947 by the entrepreneur Kenneth Wood. Over fifty years later, it is now a public limited company and a well-known household name."

The old, pre-WWII KitchenAid electric mixers are now being reclaimed by this guy who meticulously restores long-dead units to original lustre and functionality (but with far more robust motors). He ensures that all original emanel colours are used. He was presented on a programme on the Food Network not terribly long ago. Personally, I'd like to have a pre-1960 unit if I could afford it. This is highly doubtful, however.

Naw, I can't weasel out of this I'm afraid. I'm committed...

I've been to the US about 10 times in my life. Recently it's been once a year every year for a conference of some flavor. Every time I go through I get frisked. I assume they want to feel my boobs.
