4. Hey, I'm no Trevor Horn worshipper either. But the fact remians that FGTH would never had been as successful as they were if if wasn't for TCH. Holly even admits to it in his book A Bone In My Flute. The songs that Holly and the lads were recording before Horn would never have landed them a recording contract. They weren't that talented. But once Horn go ahold of them (basically re-writing the songs, gave them an image, and then packaged and marketed them), they shot to #1.

I don't think of TCH as a mucial talent per se, but he knew how to market an image (and play with the synthesizer knobs).

4. oh stop, blake. if Trevor had a flawless performance record, i might prostrate myself at his feet, but he's got some real stinkers in his producer vitae. like Seal.

also, i deliberately separated the underlying ZTT talent to focus on the actual performers themselves. like Propaganda? it was Claudia, hands-down. with Art of Noise? it was Anne Dudley and maybe J.J. Jeczalik in a loose tie.

so, like. oh, and i never really got to listen to Prime Cuts material, either. Ultimix's approach reminded me of Hot Tracks in a lot of ways, actually.

Good answers :)

1) I somewhat agree with you on this question. I think Razormaid produced high quality mixes. And it's true, they did try and keep the original "feel" of the song in tact. However, I find many of their mixes just plain boring. Same formula over and over again. Though other remix services didn't have access to the masters (as Razormaid did), I still find that outfits like Disconet and Prime Cuts produced much more interesting mixes.

2) I agree with you on this as well. Sure, the truth can sometimes be painful, but it needs to be told.

3) I shall not ratchet you down at all ;) I just figured that as heavily as you are into design, you may be into modern art. No big deal :)

4) Wrong! It was a trick question. Trevor Horn was the most important member (grin)!

5) Schroedinger's cat. That's about all I know :)
