unless something full-time plops into my lap tomorrow down in Seattle or Bellevue, i've given up, and i'm not going to wait any longer for the economy to improve here if i can work elsewhere. twelve months is long enough for a life to be put on hold, after putting it on hold for 49 months prior to that.

I've gotten that "oh, things are looking up for or at the latest" for the last two and a half years. It doesn't get any better because money is being leeched out of the public sector or redirected within that sector, and the private sector isn't interested in trying anything that's the least bit risky, because it might mean, well risk and loss, rather than near-guaranteed reward. And since people won't invest when there's loss, the private sector is unwilling to go in new directions which don't nearly guarantee a healthy return. *grumbles*

Maybe by 2030 we can have 175 million people working for Wal*Mart and Target. That sure seems to be how it's heading in this country.
