I've just given up getting anything in my field for the time being. Right now is survival time and that's how I'm going to have to live for a while. I don't know what to tell you except that it's hell for a lot of people right now.

While I know how you feel and have tread upon that road before, I would think about it this way:

We are all different and bring different abilities and talents to the table. Just because you do not land one job does not necessarily mean that you are unqualified for a similar job or even *that* particular job; it just means that you didn't get that particular job because the fit isn't right for you.

Besides, would you really want *every *job posted in the job listings? Probably not. There are plenty of deadly design-related jobs out there masquerading as good ones. There's plenty of "spin" going around on the other side of the conference table too.

That said, I don't think you should stop looking, but it does sound like you could probably do with a day off from your task of looking, just to let those feelings of intimidation and unqualification manifest themselves and pass so you can feel better about the gifts you do possess and the qualities you have to offer a potential employer. Looking for work is a job in itself and we all need a vacation from the soul batterings life throws at us from time to time.

Hang in there. Remember to be nice to yourself every once in a while too. :)

let it wash over you. give yourself about a day to walk around wailing, "i'll never be good enough!" and then let that be the last bit of self-doubt to escape your fair lips.

and sell yourself with spin. a job interview/cover letter/phone conversation is NOT the time to be humble.

seriously. your portfolio is great--it's waaay better than anything i've got. i think your situation has as much to do with timing and geography as anything.
