first puberty

Glossary entry

first puberty

noun

Physical changes occurring during the period of mid-childhood, triggered by endogenous (i.e., internal) endocrine secretions which generate morphologically sexual characteristics apropos to one’s gonads (where that endogeny occurs).

For people with cissexual bodies, this is also known as their only puberty. For people with transsexual bodies, this may be followed by a second puberty.
