“Mastodon Hit Radio”
A Fakesoundchecks radio fiction
Sent in from Casey B. of State College, PA:
“Proof positive Mastodon works on "hit radio”.
Captured during the “freeform format” of EZ95’s final, transitional weeks before the station’s buyout by Clear Channel turned the format into a bubbly, all-news talk station called YOU 95 (WYUE-FM). That station lasted for about three months before switching to a country-rock format, followed by an “urban youth alt-rock” experimental format, before finally settling on the more familiar Mix format.
In the o’teens, the station became home to a farm report format with music interstitials from autotuned hit singles. The first interstitial used for the new format was “Believe” by Cher.
