about that Bruce Cockburn-MPR connection, revisited.

you know something? this is gonna sound so delusional, even though it really isn’t.

but i purchased this opened copy of the CD i mentioned earlier, The Charity of Night, from MPR during an employees-only sale of product they were having while i working as a contractor there in late 1999. and that’s about when the bumpers began to air with his music. admittedly, i really loved the series which preceded his bumpers (including that really mysterious, wild brass-upright-drums uptwmpo jazz snippet from the 1950s that raced up and down the scales in about ten notes and reminded me totally of cocktail dresses, martinis and cigars).

i mean, while the chances are small, this might be the same piece of media they used to produce those spots. then again, MPR owns and operates the Public Radio Music Source, which is a lot like Amazon.com (much of the music catalogue is identical), but part of your purchase goes to your local public radio station.

so, on second thought, maybe this was just a product return. but i remember it being the only copy they had in the tiny sale room they set up, so your guess is as good as mine.
