add this one to the Everett, WA, antipathy list.

#191. the Everett Transit system.

so, the only bus that drives by where i’m living only happens once hourly, and that’s only from 5am to 5pm (note how often i said “only”). that bus arrives by my place at about 23 minutes after the hour.

not so today.

so, as par for any bus route, you wanna arrive at the stop about five minutes before its anticipated arrival. now, where i last lived, buses might be late, but they’d never arrive early, since arriving early — especially for an hourly or two-times-a-day route — can leave a lot of people in the cold.

literally.

Everett #8 either never arrived, was far earlier than 22 to 23 after or was so late, that 35 after the hour was still too much for its very dead route to handle. it’s about when i left the stop, after twenty minutes of waiting at curious car-bound suburbanites who wondered what kind of a creature would be standing next to a pole that has a sign with an icon of a bus on it.

no thanks to this, i had to cancel one of my appointments in downtown Seattle this morning. i’m very, very chagrined by this.

ummm, howwwww do people actually live, much less thrive, in this kind of environment? anyone? anyone? and this coming from the town that operates a transit system whose 19th century fare boxes look like they were stolen from Salvation Army holiday jerry cans.

put me out of my frustration. please.
