  it might be a state skool, but it’s a 1st-tier doctoral university in the US News and World Report list. #45 in the top 50 skools? i dinna. it could be a lot worse (of course, smaller class size would be nice, but i’ll take what i can get, see).
  i read your application entry. i think your intelligence and drive to proceed forward are evident. it’s clear that you aren’t stupid, you’re not a sorority bubblehead, you’re not a rich, entitled kid and you recognise and acknowledge your flaws. i think you shall get in. i really do.
  and if, but some asinine chance, that you aren’t, you can reapply and knock off core classwork at one of the myriad high quality community colleges in the area. i was simply shocked at how many i actually saw, to say nothing of those that i didn’t. at least four, at last count.
  you’re gonna make it after all.
  now, do you think that i’ll get accepted, being the cvommunity college dropout from 1996 that i am?

  I should look into what the core requirements are, I think. I should’ve completed most of them by now, I suspect, shy of some literature courses. I placed out of introductory history courses and english courses thanks to my AP scores, I’ve taken more physics and math than I care to admit to (5 years of each, practically), I can write, and there’s really not much else left.
  Right now, Kelly and I are trying to decipher if people who don’t know my history can still make sense of what I’d written. The jury is still out.
  I think you’d get accepted. While you may have dropped out, that, in my mind, is better than the atrociously bad record I’ve maintained. Atrocious. My GPA, at some point, was .19.

  the application answer is a little cryptic, and if i didn’t know you, you could parse it many ways: queer, closet underwater basketweaver, pædophile. it’s kinda hard to decipher. just be honest, without bonking them over the head.
  provided, of course, you haven’t submitted it yet.
  i think i have their course work covered, though. my high skool GPA (in ass-backwards Texas) was 3.17, while community college was, like 3.67, i think. but still, no SAT I or ACT. i hope that won’t work against me.

  I spent way too much of my time as a kid in and around the UW. I have relatives who work there and my first internet account was scammed of UW systems. It’s a good school, public, but classy public. =) It’s definitely the best overall school in Washington, although I might be a bit biased.
  My hunch is, cross fingers, both of you will get in. I don’t know if they are easier on in-state than out-of-state applicants, or how things might be different for applicants who aren’t just graduating from high school… but last time I checked, they use a standard formula involving factoring in SAT scores in with your high school GPA. If you’re anywhere near the borderline they take other things into consideration too. I have no idea what that means for you, accozzaglia…
