it took long enough.
the LMP album, Love Conquers Alda, arrived in the mail this weekend. Ryan and Eric sent me four copies — one will be my personal copy, one went to sparkle_vixen, one will end up in the portfolio and the last one will stay sealed for now.
as i look over the quality of the work, i have to whine and grumble at not being able to run a press check in person. but i couldn’t just up and go to Winnipeg, and rather than getting a contact print from them, i got a PDF instead. whatever.
i was just grateful to get the project done under the severe impediment of clinical depression, which, of course, has not abated. it’s ironic how i always gravitate to bright, sunny colours when i’m at my worst. i also get really rigid with right angles, even for my ordinarily restrained, structured approach. maybe it’s even a little conservative.
but still. this project is so behind me. it was a $3,500 project in the end, but they were only charged a third of that.
maybe this will be my very last portfolio-calibre contribution. i can’t afford much more of this, both for the preservation of retaining graphic art as a tool as a means for creative expression (instead of a bane to my survival and nothing ever more) and for my ability to make a living by something other than cutting extreme low-bid quotes just to be sure i get something in my second-caste splendour.
