i’m presently editing the content for this last Microsoft newsletter. MS jokes aside, cos we could go on all day, i have to say something.

these people went to university and all but likely were there when their stocks shot through the roof and made them unusually rich people, even though nothing about their job is. except maybe the cafeteria selection and the garage parking.

but my god. these people don’t know how to write or use grammar in the slightest. it’s stunning what happens when people are left unchecked.

or maybe i’m just a perfectionist not cutting some slack. whatev.

I think you’ll find that poor excuse for written english is the norm in corporate America; I’ve certainly found that to be the case where I work. Just another reason I hate working on newsletters, truth be told. ;)

  It’s simply part of the inherent unfairness of life, I’m afraid. These idiots are adept enough at schmoozing the right people to think they are capable and land these jobs where they can slough off the unenviable tasks like writing the newsletter articles to their underlings yet take the credit for the article once it’s published.
  And there’s the whole issue of people not really trying at writing these articles, because they know that nobody will read them anyways. It just doesn’t matter.
  It’s infuriating to deal with, even moreso when you’re smart enough to be cognizant of how disfunctional and wrong it is (as we both are), which is why I try not to dwell on it a whole lot. Thank goodness for outlets. ;)

i’ve seen so many typos and things that are misspelled since i moved to the US that i was almost starting to believe i spell better than most of the natives here. ;]

well, to be nit-picky, “presently” actually means something which is going to happen in a very short while… :-) although, admittedly, the defintion meaning something happening currently is being used more and more often (if incorrectly).
then again, this is from the person who just recently typoed ‘prostrate’ with ‘prostate’, giving something i’d written quite a different meaning… haha.

  i honestly did not know this. but then again, considering the public education system in which i was shoddily prepared — the Texas Public School System — this is small surprise to learn of this correction in context coming from a highly articulate, well-educated girl from Ontario.

Nah, you’re right. A college degree doesn’t ensure that someone is going to use proper grammar and spellings. It’s really pretty sad, but very true. Heck, my LJ is only written at a ninth-grade level, and I have an MA! So the thought that these MicroDroids would have atrocious grammar and spelling surprises me not in the least.
