our owner-friend at our fave south Indian joint is named Raja. he’s such a sweetheart.
i told him my name, then told him my easy-to-remember desi nickname, to which he completely lit up. i reminded him of my best friend’s name, svairini, so that he wouldn’t forget. but i wouldn’t have actually said svairini, lest he have a conniption.
