wohali karma may have just rubbed off on me.
possibly.
i was just called in to begin a week-long art buyer gig tomorrow.
whoa.
the pay isn’t too bad, considering that the talent agency that found this gig takes a healthy chunk out of the final rate.
the only curious thing is that an art buyer is a highly specialized role that only the largest ad agencies have, whereas in other, smaller agencies, the function of art buyer is usually a portion of what one person does.
plus, i don’t have a contact book for Seattle yet. i simply haven’t been here long enough to build one. and since my PDA died in september, i’ve been functionally without my Twin Cities contacts whenever i’m away from my home office.
but after a severe, three-month-long dearth of trying to pin down consistent work since my arrival in Seattle, a week of being busy (and getting paid for it, see) is such a relief. it’s only a week, and it won’t cover all my debts, but it’ll help brings things down slightly.
it’s all about the good things with little glimmers at the end of the ’02.
